let it go.

Sometimes you have to..
pinterest

Today was not my finest hour. I did something really stupid at work. But I learned this lesson, and I am learning to let it go. It wasn't a big deal at all, but it could've been.

I am harder on myself than anybody else will ever be. I'm definitely my own worst critic. And I am the world's worst about dwelling on things. So I think today, for me at least, this is very appropriate.

When I was a kid, my mom used to tell me to "spit the gum out." She would say.. "there is no use chewing on something over and over. Just spit it out. And once you spit gum out you don't put it back in your mouth do you?" Well, most people don't. So today I say (to myself) "spit the gum out and let it go!"

flashback Friday + ornament craft

Christmas Craft
I found these ornaments on pinterest a while back and I just had to try them! They turned out wonderfully, and I intend to make another dozen before Christmas! All you need is some clear ornaments, old hymnal/dictionary/book paper, some mod podge, and glitter. Then I found these little tags at Hobby Lobby, and thought they were cute! I absolutely loved the finished product!
And now for the flashback friday photo {Christmas*Edition}:
This is my mom's favorite picture of me. Apparently it was my Christmas photo. Love it~

around the house lately.

I planted a garden. Actually, I planted it twice. I was so proud of myself the first time until I realized it wouldn't get any sun. So I had to replant it. To my surprise, even after all that trauma, it GREW! Im so excited!
Also, randomly, we put a new driveway in today. I think jake is just as excited about new concrete as I am about my garden! Go us!

flashback friday.

Monday was my momma's birthday. She's pretty much the best mom in the history of the world. She's my best friend, a selfless soul, and truly the most giving and loving woman I've ever met. I can only hope to be like her. I got her a really fun present this year but im not giving it to her until tomorrow, so ill have to share it on here next week! Happy (late) birthday momma!

supposed to...

"What screws us up most in life is the picture in our head of how it's supposed to be." (quote)
I have a hard time with this. My expectations are high. Of myself, of my husband, of my friends. And no one can live up to those expectations. Not even if they try their hardest. Because no one is perfect.
And another thing... it's not really supposed to be that way... you know why? Because it's not that way. And if it was supposed to be, God would've made it that way.
I needed this reminder today. And most every day. So don't keep waiting or wishing things were a different way, live today right where you are with who you are with. Because today is happening exactly how it's supposed to.

supper.

This dinner was so yummy, I thought I'd share some recipes! I have made this before, and it is really the perfect combination! The perfect comfort food.. and for only about 13 weight watchers points! Even better! I will warn you that this is a little work, and you will probably end up with a messy kitchen! :)
I had a little friend watching me cook through my window... He kept me company.
Green beans (canned), a couple slices of salt pork, worcestershire sauce, and pepper.

Oven "fried" chicken (I used chicken tenders instead of drumsticks)- recipe

Macaroni & Cheese lightened up - recipe

My little friend
And because my dad is coming over tonight, I wanted the house to smell good! So I found this and decided to try it! Boil orange peels with cinnamon! It smell delicious!

what if?

"What if I woke up today with only the things I thanked God for yesterday?" (here)

What if?
Would I have this?

Or this?

Or what about these?

Would I ever get to see this again?

It's just a thought...
But I think I need to become more deliberate about what I'm thankful for. Because when you think about it like this... It makes you notice things a little differently.

flashback friday.

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I found a ton of old photos at my parent's house last weekend and smuggled some home with me! I absolutely love looking at old pictures and remembering that special time. But I really, really love looking at ones I have no recollection of and having my family tell me about that picture. So, my mom and I went through bags, boxes, and albums of pictures and were laughing until we cried. I am going to be posting some of my favorites - one a week- for the next few months!

I have to start with this one. I have always been a water baby. In fact, most of my favorite photos (and memories) are me in the ocean, pool, or bathtub. So here's my first flashback friday photo!

On another note, I'm so glad it's Friday. My plans for the weekend: a whole lotta nothin. Tonight it's pajamas, pizza, and Water for Elephants. Wanna know a secret? I've been counting down the days until this movie was released. I love it! Jacob brought it home with him tonight, and I can't wait to watch it...again!

Happy weekend,

the dreamers.

Walk with the dreamers,
the believers,
the courageous, the cheerful,
the planners,
the doers,
the successful people with their heads in the clouds,
and their feet on the ground.
Let their spirit light a fire in you,
to leave this world better
than when you found it.

I love this quote. I made this picture (and the next) for my mom last year on her birthday. I just think this quote is beautiful. I want to be one of "those successful people with their head in the clouds and their feet on the ground," don't you?

One of my favorite things to decorate with is old hymnal pages. I have several old hymnals at my house. One I found at an antique store, one at half price books, and one my mom found in the bench seat of her old piano. This wall decoration was something I made for my mom for her bathroom. She needed a decoration with some black and white. So, I got some scrapbooking paper and an hold hymn page and came up with this!
