a perfect {belated} vday celebration

We celebrated *vday* this weekend since we both worked on the actual day. This was the.most.perfect.day. We woke up and had pizza for breakfast (yea, I know.. this day quickly became all about food). Then we went to Cabela's and got our vday presents for each other: We like to think of it as a Redneck Valentine's: Fishing poles + Fishing licenses.
And SURPRISE.. mine lights up! :)

Ate lunch at Twisted Root: yummo.

Went grocery shopping, and got all the goodies for our home-cooked dinner and dessert.
Danced some, except I can't so this is how we roll (I also got some new socks today).

Cooked dinner...

Hasselback potatoes (I added parmesan to mine), Outback-style steak, and green bean bundles

And dessert...

Sprinkle cake but I prefer this icing

This cake looks fabulous, I know. It is a 3-layer vanilla bean cake with buttercream frosting. It was just okay... the cake was fabulous. The icing was a little too buttery. And since I cannot tell a lie, I must say that it almost wasn't edible for one tiny reason... See, apparently you are supposed to put parchment paper on the bottom of your cake pans to keep them from sticking. I didn't have any, so I cut wax paper to fit. No problem. Then they came out nicely, I stacked them, iced them. Oh yea, and I forgot to take the wax paper off. It blended in with the cake and I didn't even see it. So we had to peel it off before we took a bite and it kind of just ruined it for me. Very upsetting. Oh well, I'll have to try again. :)

Happy belated Vday, friends!
